Fathers and Sons

SYNOPSIS:

Two emotionally stunted brothers convince a stranger to pose as their deceased father in order to keep living off his retirement income, only to find the stand-in's sensitive personality having an increasingly profound impact on them.


Director Bio:

Jörgen Scholtens (Leeuwarden, 15-10-1986) is an actor and movie-director from the Netherlands. He started his acting career when he was 19 years old. After five years of acting in multiple Dutch movies and tv-series, he gathered a film crew to make his first short movie. In 2018, Scholtens won the 48 Hour Film Project three times. His film Masterclass was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner in 2019. In the same year, he also made his official debut film Cuckoo!. This absurd short film about a man living inside a cuckoo clock, was internationally awarded and selected during the Dutch Film Festival as one of the best debut films. In 2021, he made the mid-length film Little Amsterdam: a dark comedy about mass tourism and a woman fighting her loneliness. Fathers & Sons is Scholtens’ first full-length movie. In this tragicomedy, two grown-up men replace their deceased father for another man, in order to keep living off the retirement income of their real father.
